Agha Steel Industries Limited along with Pakistan Womens Foundation for Peace(PWFFP) organized a walk on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Seaview Clifton to create awareness among the residents for maintaining cleanliness. The walk was attended by Mayor Karachi Syed Waseem Akhtar, CEO Agha Steel Industries Hussain Agha, and other members of the civil society. A large number of students also participated in the walk.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans promoting a clean Karachi. Pamphlets and other information sharing material was also distributed among citizens highlighting how every single person can contribute towards cleanliness and beautification of the city. According to PWFFP spokeswomen Ms Maheen Allibhoy, the aim of this walk is to educate people on the importance of cleanliness and keeping the city clean and beautiful. She said, “Islam emphasized cleanliness, ‘therefore all of us should ensure keeping our surroundings clean and pollution-free”.

Mayor Karachi also spoke on the importance of cleanliness and the role of youth in the beatification of city. “Youth can play a fundamental role in makeover of the city. It is very heartening to see a large number of students turning up on a Sunday morning to advocate for a clean Karachi. Youth are an effective means to spread the message about cleanliness,” he maintained, saying the High School, College and university students would take enthusiastic part in keeping the urban locality clean and immaculate.

CEO Agha Steel Industries Limited, Hussain Agha added that, “Islam emphasizes on cleanliness and purity. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Cleanliness is half the faith (Emaan). Our faith can’t be complete until and unless we practice cleanliness. Cleanliness doesn’t mean to wear a neat and clean dress. It includes cleaning of our surroundings also.” He maintained, Agha Steel Industries limited is committed towards betterment and beautification of the city and ASIL will raise awareness through all medium promote consciousness among the residents about cleanliness, so that they could play their role in this regard.
